Leader: Jayne Burton
Duration: 2 hours
Venue: Coastal Craft Collective, 10 Marine Place, Seaton, Devon, EX12 2QL
This two hour workshop introduces you to the simple techniques and tools required to make a basic 20cm drum lampshade.
You will learn about pattern placement, attaching fabric to the laminate backing panel, rolling onto the rings and finishing off.
Jayne provides a 20cm diameter Drum Lampshade kit and use of her tools.
You can bring your own fabric or you can buy from a selection on the day for £4.50. A simple cotton fabric is easiest to work with initially, and you will need a piece 65cm wide x 24cm high.
If you have a favourite pair of fabric or embroidery scissors please bring them along as they will be useful for you when cutting and trimming the fabric.
If you would like to print your own fabric and then use it to make a lampshade, you could combine this class with Jayne's Indian Block Printing session. In many cases it takes place in the morning before this class
Suitable for adults and older children, ages 14+
Jayne is happy to run her sessions with 2 people or more. If only one place is booked, we will cancel the session. If this happens, we'll offer the person who has booked the class a place on an alternative day, a credit for another workshop or a full refund, whichever they prefer.
If you'd like to make some smaller shades, Jayne also runs a Fairy Light Shade workshop. Jayne also runs a Japanese tie dye lampshade or lantern making session.
