Leader: Jayne Burton
Duration: 10am to 4pm
Venue: Coastal Craft Collective, 10 Marine Place, Seaton, Devon, EX12 2QL
PLEASE NOTE: This class is dependent on the weather as the outside area is required. You will be notified on Friday 23rd August if the class is being cancelled and postponed to another date.
Cyanotype is a photographic process using UV light to expose the prints. You can use seed heads, flowers, leaves, lace or cut out shapes to lay on treated papers or fabric before exposing it to the UV light.
Jayne will supply all of the materials you need including papers and a selection of dried flowers and seed heads for your use.
You are encouraged to bring a selection of suitable materials to experiment with, such as leaves, grasses, seed heads - dried or fresh - or even lace. Flowers, ferns and seeds heads make excellent prints, so press these between kitchen roll or newspaper under some heavy books for several days before use.
For this day workshop you will also be making a wet cyanotype, where washing up bubbles are added to the paper before exposure. This will be done at the start of the class to allow several hours outside for development.
You will be making 3 or 4 x A6/A5 size prints plus two larger A4 size prints. Additional papers are available at cost if required. In addition, and if there is time, you will be able to treat, dry and use a small piece of cotton fabric.
Please bring an apron or wear suitable clothing in case of any splashes.
There will be a lunch break at around 1pm. Lunch is not provided. We have a fridge, microwave and kettle. You are welcome to bring your own food or visit one of the great cafes or takeaways in Seaton.
