Leader: Janine Ziolkowski
Duration: Wednesday 27 October - ninety minutes
Venue: Coastal Craft Collective, 10 Marine Place, Seaton, Devon, EX12 2QL
Creative fun for ages 4 to adult - children under 7 should have an adult with them. An ideal activity to do as a family.
Enjoy making paper from cotton and recycled paper. You can add petals, bits of thread, seaweed or photo copied pictures and more to personalise your work and create different sizes and shapes. You can choose from a selection of materials provided or bring items to put in the paper.
If you want to, you can choose to make a small bowl by moulding the paper on a natural or manmade item. Janine has used shells, beach pebbles, leaves, craft and cooking moulds, sieves and tea strainers to mould paper on. You may wish to bring your own items. Natural items will be available freely and sieves and tea strainers can be purchased for a small fee.
Paper making is rather wet so it's best to wear old clothes and bring some old newspapers and a pack of cheap j-cloths or cut up rags to take your work home. We have aprons if you want to use them.
The price includes all materials and refreshments
Janine worked as a teacher but has now retired from the classroom. She has always been passionate about the arts and led art and DT in many of her teaching posts. She has explored many aspects of art but always returned to paper as a favourite medium. She lives in Charmouth and works from her garage to make paper from local plants.
If you'd like to try paper making at home, we have a paper making craft kit.
