Leader: Sue Cannon / SusieC
Duration: Thursday 10am to 12.30pm
Venue: Coastal Craft Collective, 10 Marine Place, Seaton, Devon, EX12 2QL
Suitable for beginners and those with some experience of silk painting.
You will learn how silk inks work, how water and other materials affect them and the importance of good preparation.
Sue will have festive designs available alongside a range of non Christmas designs for those who prefer them.
We will be using an example piece to practice on, discussing design, colours and techniques. You will then choose and complete a picture from a selection available. It can be made into a card on the day or you can take it home to frame.
All materials are provided, including coloured inks, an outlined silk to experiment with and your chosen silk to take home. The price includes 2 pictures - 1 practice piece plus 1 other. If you finish early and want to do another picture, there will be a small additional cost.
Silk painting is an accessible and fun process. Be prepared to allow the dyes to flow and enjoy the vibrant colours. For inspiration some of Sue's paintings will be on show as well as books on silk painting to browse through.
This session is intended for adults and older children. Children age 8 and over are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
