Monica has been a designer/maker/teacher for over 25 years. She enjoys creating contemporary narrative jewellery with silver and semi-precious stones, and immersing herself in the creative process of designing, forming, forging, carving and bringing to life an idea, developing new techniques, and teaching her findings in both her studio on the English southwest coast and her studio in Mexico. To this end Monica established the Eclectic School of Jewellery and Design in December 2003. In Mexico she has taught several courses in a jewellery school and an artist studio as a guest tutor.
Monica's jewellery has been exhibited in the UK and Mexico. Her work and articles have been featured in the UK Magazines Craft & Design, Making Jewellery and Make & Sell Jewellery; and also in Joya Magazine, the Mexican Chamber of Jewellers' international magazine, the online magazine Metal Clay Today and in the PMC CONNECTION blog.
Monica was born in Mexico, but her heart made England her home in 1985. She studied Art & Design at the University of Westminster (London), an Honours Degree in Early Childhood Studies at the University of Plymouth and has a City & Guilds Teaching Certificate. Having lived in London for 15 years, she moved to the South-West, to the charming village of Beer, where she has lived with her family since 2000.
